SaveEco Energy successfully commissioned another BTAP Wagon unloading system for a leading cement industry, demonstrating advanced bulk material handling technology with optimized energy efficiency.
The project addresses a critical requirement in the cement industry: efficient and reliable transportation of fly ash from thermal power plants to cement plants for use as a raw material component.
The Challenge in Fly Ash Transportation
Fly ash plays an important role in cement manufacturing by being blended into cement products. For thermal power plants, efficient utilization of fly ash also helps address challenges associated with its disposal.
Traditionally, fly ash transportation through bulkers had limitations in terms of:
- Transportation capacity
- Higher operational cost
- Logistics dependency
An alternative using BCFC wagons with bottom discharge was also evaluated. However, after reviewing overall project economics, BTAP wagon unloading proved to be a more effective solution.
The major limitations with BCFC wagon systems included:
- Requirement of large civil infrastructure for unloading pits
- Additional pneumatic conveying requirement for further material transfer to the plant
- Potential pollution challenges during unloading operations
